The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread

Posted on 04/26/2004 12:06:41 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Yeah. Any idea how long it takes? Mine went from $50 to 65 to 0. The course should pay for it'self after awhile.

I used to work with that horse on occasion when she needed it. I didn't ride her regularly. My job was to take care of all of the horses and school whoever. I also taught lessons. (there's a spiel here somewhere about it) Truth be told, I haven't been on a horse in about a year or so. It's been driving me crazy, because I used to ride several different horses every day. But I'm looking into another barn, and should be hearing back from her soon! Here's hoping!

That's great:).

Does this mean you have a job there, or just riding?

Just riding, but who knows. That's how it's always started out for me. I know that she has a pretty heavy lesson program, and quite a few horses, so who knows?

That's about what we pay here. I pay a little more for Bay's special pads, but he only charges me extra every ~other~ time, when he actually replaces them.

We are leaving here soon, going up to Seattle tonight for Seattle Symphony with guest conductor Howard Shore who wrote the music for Lord of the Rings. He'll be conducting the music from the soundtrack. I ~really~ look forward to this. ecurbh is knowledgeable of symphony, having majored in music and performed in one. I hardly ever can grasp the music as well as he can, but this one is different. I know this one just as well and can share in it at a higher level. My brother and some of the other locals from the hobbit hole are going with us also. :~D

See you later!

That sounds like alot of fun. I know nothing about music other then likes and dislikes, but even as a kid I loved going to a symphony. We use to get to go for field trips.

You have a good time.

A neighbor up the road called and asked if she could come down and have me watch her run barrels. I'm watching JP tonight too, so I'll be busy here.
