Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!
I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
You should see them. Cam hats, tee shirts, jackets, pants, gloves, overalls, cam boots. Wouldn't surprise me is their drawers weren't cam, too. Loud and rowdy and tail gate parties.
Yeah look at Okies front leg from the side. It looks really short but it's not. The top part all white and hard to see the shape from a distance.

Good Morning:)
Heather coming today. Will take the camera on the trail ride. I did that Monday but didn't realize I had picked up a bad disc:(. I got some fliers made Mon. night on Harley. I am anxious to for her to get one and take to her stable to see if the people looking for a horse will come see him. I wouldn't mind keeping him, but it's also fun selling them then going to look for another too.
Hot day today. Will probably only manage to ride till around noon. I didn't ride last night. Moving that dresser almost killed me:). Didn't even get to the bathrooms, so that is on the agenda for this afternoon. I'm sure I'll be inspired enought from the rest of the house being so clean to go ahead and get them done. Then just keeping it this way.....
You know, in my experience, if you have nothing more then a hair rub in the cinch area after a few days the soreness will be gone and it doesn't hurt to go ahead and ride some. Just watch it close. I probably wouldn't do 15 miles again:). But short ones wouldn't make it worse.

The cinch rub is worse than just a hair rub. Didn't look like it was gonna be, but he's gonna lose that skin. But we coud cinch up behind it and ride here, keeping an eye on it, if we were to get inspired... ;~D

Boy, is Rocky the only one getting bit or is he just more sensitive? I have a friend who's horse breaks out badly from flies and those little gnat/no-see-um things.
No they don't seem to be bothering his face, just around his shoulders. He was out all day yesterday. I'm keeping him in his run today, so he will stay in his stall. They don't get him as bad there. I'll turn him out tonight.

Around here it always seems as if the flies zero in on one horse. I don't know why it's him this year. But the other ones don't have a bite on them. ??? But other years, Rocky hasn't gotten bites. So who knows why?

Okay people, I've been posting pictures every day:). Your turns. I'm getting ready to leave for church, when I get back I want to see some pictures, I don't care what it is a picture of, just pictures;), altho horses would be nice.
I'm not posting anymore till you all do. I'm beginning to think you're probably tired of looking at mine, and to polite to say so:)

Tonight, ecurbh wants to go sit around our campfire out in the back forty. If we do that, we'll bring the horses and take the camera along! Will horses making s'mores entertain y'all? ;~D
I moved recently and all my pictures are at my parents house in storage. I'll have to dig them out and scan them in. Soon, I promise!

Well from now on my 4 y/o grandson wears duct tape when he goes to Walmarts with me. JJ is so curious and never hushes. Today he wanted to know when he would get hair under his arms like his daddy. I told him when he was around twelve. Then it was why, and what about girls and why do they shave and beating his chest "guys like hair under their arms". Sigh. Then he wants to know when he can sit in the front seat. I told him the law says 12. On and on. We are in line getting our groceries and he started telling everyone loudly that "Granny won't let me sit in the front seat of the car until I get hair under my arms when I'm 12. I covered his mouth but all just rolling with laugher. I was so embarrassed :').
I can now add to this. I just got back from church. I was slow moving and all asking me how I was doing. I told them I was sore. The preacher asked about my injuries and in front of the whole congregation JJ announced "Granny hurt her butt!" grrr
