The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread

Posted on 04/26/2004 12:06:41 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Well, if there was new people I'd still be there. Not that I don't care for the ones that are there, but we have definitly covered all ground about religion, and our own personal beliefs. They have the gospel. It's up to each of them to accept or reject. "I" can't change anyone.

So you didn't get any new blood with the switch to TOS? Or were they all just too weird to bond with? ;~D

I'm not sure why we didn't get any new blood moving over there. Maybe one or two. I think they are a bit more radical over there. Don't get me wrong, I think Mack and I fall in the fanatical group when it comes to religion, but over there, it's just different type of people, not bad, just different.

I know what you mean.... I had a couple friends from here that ended up banned and over there, talked to them there a couple times, but it's too weird. Lots of people who get banned from here are just plain nuts ;~D

I think there is something to the cliche "keep it in the middle of the road" if you get my drift. To far on either side is just that, too far, and not good, you'll land in a ditch.

Altho as far as religion, this country has come to believe that people such as Mack and I are to far:)....uuummmmm....I can't ever keep it straight, am I too far left or right:)??? IMO, that just proves I'm in the middle. Which is conservative? Oh, right, right? I can hear the Hildebeast saying something about "the vast right wing conspiracy" trying to get Bill.

LOL

I think we'd better go back to horses:) Politics and religion don't belong on a horse thread. Defiles horses.

I took six rolls of film to Walmart. None of them had me on Okie. I had it in my front pocket in the ejector seat Tue. Eddie says JJ picked it up. Great. Search time:'). I still have some good ones I'm going to try to post tonight. Fixing to head back and find those host links and give it a try.

We will take pictures

Ecurbh will ride my friend's QH mare.... great push-button horse. Bay is good with ecurbh here, but he can be a handful jigging and trotting in place the first few miles on trail. He thinks it's a race ;~D

Hey I signed in to yorkphoto but it all seems to be about developing and buying film. Where do I go?

Rusty does that in a group. Most horses will.

Well I'm real excited for you two. I don't think there is anything funner then trail riding. How many people are going? Overnight or 1 day?

you should see a place to creat an album and load pictures

There is a cool upload program you can choose to install that makes loading easier

I am excited too.

Ever since he got here and wanted to learn to ride, I've been looking forward to showing him trail riding. And we haven't been offered a chance yet.... not enough horses.

My friend wanted to go and didn't have anyone to go with. and she has two!

It'll be weird for ecurbh to get used to a new horse, he's only ever been on Bay, but she's a really nice mare.

I don't think you can really appreciate horses till everyone in the family has one and you can all go together:)

When the kids were here we would all go and it was fun.

Since ecurbh is still a beginner he shouldn't feel that much of a difference. He seems a pretty relaxed rider from the pictures.

What will be different for him will be that there won't be Bay's neck and head in front of him, he's so upright..... she's one of those really level necked QH's.... I get on her and it feels like there's nothing in front of me.

Well, I'm going to have to work on this tomorrow. I was able to download and then send a picture to me. No idea where to go from there. I'll study it more manana. If it wasn't for FR and LP I would hate computers:')

So are you all ready for your big ride? What time you leaving? How long you riding?

I going to ride Reba this morning. Then if it's not to hot ride Harley, or wait till this evening. But we may go ride the motorcycles this evening. Mack needs a break from his building:).

Anyway, you all have fun.
