Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
Yep, but a good one if he stays focused:') Sometimes it's hell trying to get a new washer, dryer, microwave etc. He can alway find " a little more juice"
Well it varies. He's usually picked up by 3:00, but then Jenny may be comeing to visit, but she could always go with us on Rocky:)

Did you check on your chicks tonight. Was everything ok with them.
Thanks for posting all that - this is the first I have heard of it. We are chatting like crazy tonight, but I promise to take a look at it seriously in the morning.
Welcome to the thread!
The busy bodies want to know everything, don't they?
They want to control everything!!
Well no more has been murdered:)
That was horrible, tramatized me.
Becky
Ok, I will call you after you get home from running you errands.
Thanks!! How do you post pictures?
There's one particular trail around here that's just hell. It's over in Kennesaw Mt. Battlefield Park - the trail goes along beside a creek - then the pedestrians get to cross on a footbridge, but us horsey people have to go down a fairly steep bank and cross the creek TWICE (it forks). Between the two creek beds is a low muddy area, if it's been raining and a lot of horses have been churning up the mud, it's about 50 yards of sucking mud that's knee deep on Gracie (and almost belly deep on some of our little ponies). Gracie pins back her ears and plunges through . . . she's glad to rinse in the creek at each end. Ugh.
I wonder if my horse could opt out on relgious grounds? He's a baptist and we don't believe in this stuff :')
I love your profile page:)
I'll read your post more throughly in the morning, by this time of night, I don't think real good:)

That's good, I had one hatch last night that has stayed curled up rolling around like a ball, but it finally has started straighting out I was beginning to think I was going to have to put it out of its misery.
Oh sorry I missed it....it didn't come up in my comments section...could we have glitches? Heaven forbid. Thank you very much.

Yeah, the lowland parts of our trails get like that too when there have been a couple thousand horses through there. They close the trails during the rainy season, but in Washington, the rainy season has a fairly loose definition... ;~D
Seemed that way when I was in Seattle-Tacoma one summer (they claimed it was summer - the calendar said it was summer - I couldn't tell through the "mist".)
I will always let people believe it rains all the time here.... We have enough traffic problems as it is here in heaven!
The region of Natrc that I am in covers Ok, Ark, La, Tx. The people from Tx, won't hardly come up to Ok, and Ark because of the rocks.
The first time I went down there to a ride it was in East Tx, right next to the La, Tx border. It was actually on a ranch owned by Lady Bird Johnson. Any way lot's and lots of pine trees. And alot of them were down across the trails, and the horse had to step over them, some of them were pretty big around.
Well I remember at a ride in Ark. there was a lady from TX in the bathrooms complaining about the rock, that they gave her horse problems stepping thru, and I told her it was all a matter of perspective. In TX, my horse who had never had to step over any tree bigger round that a telephone pole, literally fell over the big one in Tx the first 20 miles of the ride, the next 10 she stepped over with her front legs that kind of jumped with her back (that got very old), by the last 10 miles she was getting the hang of it. So Texans had to deal with our rocks and we had to deal with their pine trees. I'd take the rocks:)

Welcome!
Guessing your stock is is of the family of great horses from "Bey" lines. My "Bay" who is pictured in my profile page and in our thread logo, is a Bey Shaw descendent.
OH JEESH, its to late to attempt all that tonite (uploading pics) and YEP...I have alot of Bey Shah stuff.
and The Minstril. Just bought one of the only two Black Straight Spanish Arabian Stallions in the country and the first is my colts sire, who is now 25yrs old. So you might say I am mixing Bey Shah...The Minstril..and Spanish all up in a bowl then I'll bake it and see what I get...LOL.
I agree, particularly with Bay's difficult back. I have had a cowboy friend tell me that the fuzzy cinch and breastcollar that I bought for Bay's Western outfit are also bad on trail and will rub when they get muddy. I'll be watching. They sure ~look~ comfortable.
