Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!
I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
Try to let us know how it goes before you leave.

We went back and looked at all the posts HDN made. Looks like he/she posted one night on the NES, then one other time looking for that insanity test, you know the race car thing. That had to be Charlie:) And now Kristy is using that same name.

Rainy, cool enough for a jacket this morning:(. ~sigh~ I need some sun.
I'm going to go get JP around 9:00. Will bring your saddle to you before so I don't have to unload him in this weather. Just going to the feed store today. No other errands. Then coming home to finish the bookwork:(.

Morning. We had a bad storm come in about 4. It's ugly outside and lightening but just drizzling right now.
Sunny here. I wouldn't mind a little rain!
ecurbh and I have to head up to Tacoma to meet with our pastor about the wedding. Then I'll be heading to the beach house for a few more days of working on the place. I can check in from time to time from there, but I'll be scarce through the weekend.

As you can see they are right where the saddle goes. They are a bit puffy and sore to the touch so he won't get rode this weekend. Should be fine by Monday tho. I'm just glad the skin wasn't broken, or anything else worse.

Good grief. You have both teeth and hoof marks there? Hard to tell. I'd be glad too that it wasn't worse, and that he didn't get any kicks to legs.
Ouch. Okie has been bite mark free for awhile. That's probably fixing to change though. I have to see what's she talking about but evidently there is a pecking order of who gets to eat first. She said he will get his share though because he's one of the dominate ones and only backs down to the "alpha" and that may change since he's never been out there at feeding time before and he may get in fights at first.
I sat and watched Okie a few minutes after I turned him out. He was rolling all over the place and then he got up and started running and playing with another horse. They were both up on their back legs. It looked like he was having a good time.
There was a communication problem with a worker about his feed and I was too ignorant to know it :'( The vet wants to keep him on 14% Pr. horse feed. He says the fat very low and will balance and with him being pastured and being cut from 6 pds to 4 pds he will be fine but that he needs additional iron and I will just have to adjust if it perks him up. I have to pick it up with some worm medicine monday. I'm to the point that I just don't care anymore. This stuff too confusing and tiring. I'll just watch his weight. If he starts to lose I'll take him for jelly donuts. If he gets hyper I'll just lunge him til he's tired. I don't want to turn play into work :')
I think it's all teeth, but not for sure really. But what you said about not having his legs kicked up it a big relief. That was what I was looking at the most last night "Is anyone limping?" That an no eyes jab from running thru trees.

Boodness, Rock realy got a hold of him. What does Rusty look like? Well, I'll bet Rocky feels like a man again. He was probably grinning last night when you put them up.:)
Did you get your arren run? How's the book work going?
