Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!
I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
Working on what I need to do tomorrow and at midnight I may go get a hamburger. I low carb every other day. 12:00 and I not dieting for 24 hrs :')

Yeah, I got everyone put back OK. Rocky, of course, came in on his own when the feed bucket rattled. I had to go find the other two. I think they were scared:)

That stallion at the stables scares me. I've seen him bow the door before. He's one mean caballo
Did you think the bites on Harley were from coyotes? No, Rocky being a stud does not like geldings. He actually doesn't like other studs either.
One time when I went on a ride when Doot was young she went to stay at a friends who runs a boarding stable. She took Rocky with her to ride while she was there. He stayed in a stall that weekend. There was another stud in the barn. I think that was the first time he learned there were other studs in the world.
I swear it was 3 days before he ate after we got him home. He stood with his head in the corner and pouted. I guess while he was there he was a real pill.

When my 4 y/o grandson saw my horse he asked me "will he eat me?"
The first time we ever had Rockt around any other studs for a long time it broke his heart. He stood in his stall with his head in the corner. He thought he was the only one I guess.:)
When Rocky is under saddle you would never know he is a stud, but when loose he can sure put on a show:)

I guess since I've lived out in the country my whole life I just can't imagine a store just down the corner. Must be nice sometimes. But it's a nice I can do with out.:)
Didn't HDN sound like it could be Kristy. The more I read her/his posts the more I thought it was here But HDN's sign up date was 2002.

Qusetion for you two. If I put Okies right side longways by the fence and then set the mounting box on his left, do you think he would squash my leg? It's just his butt that he has been turning out.
I hope it was Kristy, because I FM her back and was talking like it was her.
