They're just across the road from HD in many places around here. Their stores are cleaner, their staff is friendlier/more knowledgable, their stock is (in many cases) more competitively priced...

I prefer them to HD 99% of the time.

It's a lot further to go. The county I live in, Montgomery County, MD, is filled with citizens (at least the noisy ones) who don't want the discount stores. So you have to drive longer to go to Sams, Lowes, etc.

Not to mention all their stores around town are basically laid out the same. HD seems to have erratic layouts and never have a good organizational plan for their products.
