.38sw is right, there's .22 snake shot for .22lr, but I wouldn't recommend trying to use it in anything larger than a Ruger light target pistol.
It won't cycle the action of a 10/22, but it does do a nice job on snakes.
Rats are somewhat tougher, so I and others do the dangerous and probably stupid action of 'notching' the tip of the 22 rounds.
(Dangerous because you need to hold the darn thing still while chopping an 'x' in the tip of the round. How does one hold such a thing still? Very carefully with cloth and pliers. Using your hand is worse, you might slip an dcut yourself. .22 lightnings work well in this role but downrange accuracy suffers.)
