I think most folks in the midwest and south recognize the condescending attitude of politicians wearing a pair of ill fitting jeans, purchased at an elite and expensive store, when they visit.

Look at the pics of Clinton and Gore in their jeans at the 'down home' hay bale bbq's in the south during their campaign. Everyone knew the jeans had spandex waists.

If they can't wear jeans well, everyone notices the charade. Now, George Bush looks good in a pair of jeans because he wears them all the time, and is himself, always.
