We just got back from our town's Memorial Service. Our municipal band always plays this very beautiful rendition of patriotic music interspersed with each branch of service battle songs. Those that have served are encouraged to stand and be recognized as their song is played.

My husband, who was in the Navy, would never stand for years. Last year, my daughter prodded him up out of his seat and he reluctantly stood. Later, she told him he should do it for his grand children.

This year, he stood right up. Our granddaughter turned to the lady sitting next to her and said "thats my PaPa".

Yes, I cried.

That is so sweet .. Sounds like she was proud as could be of her PaPa
