TEHRAN, April 15 (AFP) - Inhabitants of several towns in northern Iran have reported a string of sightings of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) moving at low altitudes and emitting different colours, the state news agency IRNA reported Thursday. A resident of the northwestern city of Tabriz, Saina Haghkish, was quoted as saying she saw one object flashing red, green and blue moving slowly from the east to west late on Wednesday.
Identical sightings were also reported on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday over the northeastern town of Ghonbad-Kavous, situated on the opposite southeastern edge of the Caspian Sea.
But astronomy professor Ajab Shirizadeh told IRNA that while the presence over the Islamic republic of extra-planetary craft could not be ruled out, the sightings could also be attributed to spy or communications satellites.

It could be an aircraft of ours that we haven't disclosed yet. I'm sure we have experimental aircraft that aren't public knowledge. It could also be a common aircraft that these guys are seeing.
Maybe Iran is trying to help us in Iraq now, because we have given them an ultimatum. We could be letting them know we are out there and ready to respond if they don't cooperate on Iraq.

This particular thread is not a raging priority for me.
But on principle . . .
IRAN happens to be A VERY NEWSWORTHY SPOT ON THE GLOBE this year and particularly this week.
ANYTHING that might bear on events there--especially militarily--would seem to me to warrant a regular news filing.
I can understand that a list of UFO type threads might 'properly' belong in chat. I don't believe this one does regardless of the cheeky comments of many posters.
Just my 2 cents.
Thanks for all your hard work.

If it was us why would we be flashing colored lights? 'cuz they're prettier than black&white lights...?

As I understand it, the lights are a natural function of the propulsion dynamics--particularly when changes in flight are occurring.
I think it's something about various kinds of ionization or some such.

Thanks much.
I don't know about the warning.
Seems reasonable to go to the authorities with the issue and let them consider it again.
I suspect there are AT LEAST 8-24 VERY WELL RESPECTED AND OFTEN VERY WELL KNOWN FREEPERS CURRENTLY EMPLOYED in jobs having to do with UFO craft. I wouldn't be surprised to find it was more on the order of 24-48 or so. Hard to guess. But just from the private FREEPMAILS I've had over the years, I'm convinced it's at least 8 and more probably closer to 24.
Add in those who USED to be so employed, and the numbers probably go over 100.
Guesstimates, of course.

I don't know about the warning. I don't either. But an uncleared flyover of military aircraft might serve as a warning to the effect "We're bigger than you...". (Doesn't seem like W's style... but who knows what's going on in the background?)
Recalling my work on the Space Shuttle project -- it would be fun to be in on a "(b)leading edge" aviation project again... are they hiring?
