Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Perfect!!!
Yah know... there's an optional *snorkel* for the 109 that runs up the right-hand side and lets the engine still get air even when the water is up to the top of the windscreen.
This assumes, of course, that the driver can still breathe.
I love Land Rovers.

You know that Highlander purrs like a contented kitten!
Toyotas have come a long way and I notice a huge difference in the engine sound from my 95 Tacoma to the 2000 Rav4. And the Highlander is virtually silent!!!
It's a great stealth vehicle. The Big Red can run them down in a loud fury! *smile*

There's a classic old Land Rover magazine ad, where they have a double-page ad that on the left shows a Land Rover 109 next to a white picket fence in front of a house.
On the right they show a Bentley, in front of the same picket fence of the same house.
On the bottom half of the Bentley page it shows a little inset with the optional Bentley grill, or the optional Rolls-Royce grill. On the other side, on the Land Rover page, it shows the optional tire-on-the-hood, and tire-not-on-the-hood.
On each page, around the inset photos there is a 12-point description of the finer points of each vehicle. The pages are in every respect a mirror image of each other.
The captions to each photo, however... on the Bentley page the caption is: "In the new Bentley, at 6OMPH on the highway they only thing you can hear is the tick of the clock".
But the caption to the Land Rover is: "In this Land Rover at 60MPH the only thing you can hear is THE ROAR OF THE ENGINE".
That's about the time I fell in love with Land Rovers. :-)
