Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner we may meet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Did anyone else catch the tv caption that read "Marshal Law"?

It made me wonder when Sammo Hung was going to show up :)

Have a good night!--and thanks for the assist on the Precious :)

I get so disgusted because everynight we have a tornado story of some kind. Then, we have tornado preparedness tips. Same every night.

Gee, do ya think there are *that* many new people here daily? After the earthquake thing they did about 2 other stories and still made it to the tornado stuff. There must *really* be no news here!

They said it's "possible" because the earth is always having seismic activity. But, we don't have to worry cause it's monitored by a station up in the Wichita Mountains and in a science lab at Midwestern University.

I am *so* relieved! /sarcasm

Well, at least when we're all killed by the monster quake, it will be detected.

Ya know, there is another thing that bothers me about all this tornado paranoia up here. Every night when they do this tornado spiel they explain how we are all supposed to report to the city emergency coordinator's office about where we are planning to shelter in the event of a tornado. So, supposedly, in the event of this disaster they'll know where to go dig you out.

They really push this. Telling 'em where you're going. They want a location for everyone in the city.

Now, ya know, my Uncle Lynn is the emergency coordinator for our home town. He maintains a data base that records any necesary medical information or locational information for anyone who feels they need to have that on record. Mostly, it is for the elderly, ill and infirm. There are a couple of people in town who are on medical equipment that must maintain electricity. Stuff like that. But, this is a voluntary service provided by the emergency coordinator's office.

Here in Wichita, it is *really* getting to sound like marshall law. They have not heard from me! Nor will they. If a disaster comes, I'll either make it or I won't. I don't want 'em trackin' me.

Do I need to get my tinfoil hat?

Re: I Stayed Up All Night Watching the Battle in Fallujah From ColoradoSlim | 05/03/2004 9:30:10 PM EDT

Dear Rick,

My nephew Adam received his knife today. He was absolutely thrilled. He knew exactly what kind of knife and brand it was. He told me he wouldn't be able to take it boot with him, "nothing but the clothes on my back uncle Paul"

We got a call from our other nephew, Adam's brother, in Iraq Sunday, but missed him because we were at church. He got our last care package of food, snacks, and smokes (we don't approve of the boy smoken, but he says it helps with the stress), he sounded really up. We appreciate what your doing Rick.

Things have been real slow at work and moneys a bit tight but when things loosen up a bit I'd kind of like to make a little donation to your knife fund. Thank you again Rick for what your doing to help morale and may God bless you and your group.

Sincerely,

Paul aka ColoradoSlim

Well, if it's detected the first thing I plan to do is finish off all the ice cream in the freezer!
