Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

<hidebound geologist character, looking at dark spots on a satellite view of Redding, CA, after another earthquake> What're these dark spots?
<unconventional geologist character> Dust?
<hidebound geologist character, dramatically> Yes ... but from what?
<me, programmer-type chick> Errr ... dirt in the air?

Nah, the girl in Earthquake was a sweet single mom who was boinking Charlton Heston's character.LOL! No, not Charlton Heston's girlfriend--there was this other girl. Later in the movie some guy had to rescue her from a character who looked like Lee Marvin, I think. Speaking of Lee Marvin, remember Avalanche Express?--also featuring Joe Namath! :)

"Meteor" was made-for-TV too, wasn't it?
Ugh, I'm suddenly reminded of the movie "Crack in the World"...

Bo's a busy guy these days--also raising Superboy on Smallville.
To: Fedora
You're kidding! He's Pa Kent?

Hmmm... Police at my next door neighbor's house. Hmmmm...

Victoria Principal! She was kidnapped by the pervert National Guardsman played by Marjoe Gortner, had to be rescued by cop George Kennedy...

The actor from West Wing plays the President's assistant there; here he's playing a doctor. Don't know his name.

I figure we got another 45-60 minutes of buildup!Buildup to what is what I'm worried about :)
To: Fedora
Say, did you ever read the New Universe comics, back in the 80's? Remember "The Pitt"?
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Meteor was made for the theaters but it did so bad it probably went straight to TV :)
Never saw Crack in the World--who was in that? Uh-huh-huh--you said "crack". . .

Well, Bo Duke is playing the ex-husband of the current Governor of California; the slutty "child" is their Rebellious Teen. Daddy apparently decided to plop back into their lives by taking Rebellious Teen out camping (!!!).
Of course, the woman geologist (Kim Delaney) is the unconventional one, who's always right.
Beau Bridges is the President. Fred Ward is the head of FEMA, who's supposed to put his "face" on the disaster ... 'cause, you know, the American People are too d--n stupid to care about fellow Americans dying unless there's a "face" on it.
And, goodness, isn't Fred Ward getting old? He needs to go to John F'n Kerry's plastic surgeon! Quick!

Yep, he's Jonathan Kent! Does a good job, too. BTW Christopher Reeve is now also on the show as a permanent guest--he did a cameo last season and now he's a regular. He plays a crippled scientist investigating Krypton. Last week he helped Clark remember repressed memories of Krypton. Lex has been edging closer and closer to turning evil this season--season finale in three weeks, I think, should be good.
To: Rose in RoseBear
Heh.... Fred Ward is Aunt Cheryl's favorite actor because he went to high school with her for one year. LOL I bet she's watchin'. I better call her to make sure!
Any wonder that the character played by the woman named Kim is always right???? No..... :-D
