Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner we may meet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

"I don't remember. It may also have been "Call it Courage". I'll see if I can find it somewhere."

Let me know if you find it--I'd love to see that!

I'll see if I can find "Return of Dr. X". Have a friend who probably has it, I'll see if he knows who produces it. Maybe Kino I'm guessing.

I thought Hair was still here and was wondering why she wasn't jumping in! :)

Dude, ya shoulda been here. I flushed out a wild turkey (the flying kind, not the drinking kind) whilst out on my after lunch walk.

Luckily, I didn't flush out any copperheads.

I usually tape stuff like that off TCM :) Sometimes if they don't have it I can get it from an older friend who collects old movies. I'll ask him if he has that one and if so where he got it.

Because she is finding herself distracted by other stuff!

They probably take requests from their website, and I think sometimes they also produce stuff commercially when they restore old films.

BTW, this weekend I was fortunate to find a rummage sale place around here that regularly sells tapes of old movies. Here's what I picked up for 50 cents a tape:

1938-9 Nancy Drew adaptations
1961 "King of Kings" (remake of DeMille silent version)
1936 "Garden of Allah"
"Route 66" w/"Keaton" (I guess it must be Buster)
"Jack Benny Show" w/Perry Mason
1939 "Mr. Moto's Last Warning"
1954 "Rocket Man" (think this was an SF serial)
1921 D.W. Griffith's "Orphans of the Storm"

Have seen that a few times. My friend is a big Griffith fan and likes that film a lot. Intolerance is also really good.

I fell asleep during Intolerance. :) And they thought the LOTR movies were long!

Well, I'm back.

Interview went well... was actually more of an orientation/paperwork session with the temp agency. They said I had the skills the client was looking for, so hopefully I'll be called back to meet with the client in a few days.

It's a long one, alright :) Set designs for ancient Babylon were awesome, though. I saw that film the first time at a special showing in an old-style movie palace with a live organist--it was pretty neat.

My favorite silent film is probably Nosferatu. I also like Lon Chaney/Tod Browning, Cecile B. DeMille, and Fritz Lang's movies. In SF I like a WWI version of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea TCM shows sometimes. In fantasy I've seen bits of a silent version of Wizard of Oz that I've been meaning to see the whole thing of. Those are some stuff I like.

I've got Nosferatu on tape. I like Lon Chaney (Cheney? Hehehehe) and Fritz Lang. I really like Buster Keaton.
