Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Even they have to have ~some~ basis hehehe... yeah, right... basis like how I can't rebuild my dock without allowing light through in five foot intervals? Like how the neighbors can't make a bulkhead because somehow erosion is "natural"? It's not about science. It's not about reality.
Do you have any idea how many rules you've broken already just clearing that undergrowth? I'll bet there was a permit or two lacking...

Why would the horses have to go? I'm sure there's somebody over at Evergreen that thinks domesticated horses are "unnatural" and they "might" interfere with nesting eagles.
OK... OK... I'm kneejerking. I admit it. But I have good reason to be trained for same. The whole of the staff of the state dept of Ecology is from Evergreen. I know how they think. None of them believe in the concept of private property. They really, honestly, don't believe that mankind should be allowed to interact with the environment in any way.

They really, honestly, don't believe that mankind should be allowed to interact with the environment in any way. And since I am the closest thing to an environmentalist he knows.... he takes ~them~ out of ~me~.
It makes him feel better to bug his little sister! :~D

People in this town are brain-dead! Today, the tornado sirens went off. Several funnels were sighted around town. There was just video of them on the news - definitely funnels. Very clear.
Okay, last month when we had those tornados on the ground no sirens sounded. But, there was a lot of damage.
Last month there was public uproar because the sirens didn't sound. Understandably.
Today, people are protesting now at the police station because the sirens sounded but the funnels never touched the ground!
People are stupid. Got no sense whatsoever.

Thanks--I'll have to take a closer look at the trees they're pecking at. Do they also eat ladybugs?--because we have a lot of those, I wonder if that could also be why they're there--don't know if ladybugs light on trees, though.

And since I am the closest thing to an environmentalist he knows.... Not so... really... :-)
I had the wonderful fortune of meeting and getting to know some of the Earth-First! people when I was up in Valdez for that oil spill problem some time back.
We had to arm the inport watchstanders while we were in Valdez because there were threats that the Earth-First! group was planning to firebomb CG cutters with malotov cocktails. Many of these people were sent up there on grants from the Evergreen State College. Some of them even got college credit for their "activist" activities.
Nevermind that the USCG was there to enforce the cleanup requirements put on Exxon.
I had the "wonderful" experience of talking to some these creeps in the bars of Valdez, when I was dressed in civies and they didn't know who I was.
These people have nothing but vitriol and hatred for capitalism in general, and America in particular. These are the people that during the WTO riots in Seattle were kicking in the windows of Starbucks and Nike stores, wearing Nike shoes.
They're just wanna-be's that are really pissed-off that they were born too late to be hippies and demostrate against Vietnam. They have no idea what they are angry about, they just wanna be angry at somebody.

Woodpeckers eat wood-boring insects, not just bugs on trees.
And Ladybugs eat Aphids.... people actually like them and bring them ~in~ to the garden!
