Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner we may meet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I was just worried Scrabble was, um, advanced backgammon or something.

I thought I knew what both of these things were, but now I'm totally confused :) Which is no different than normal, so that's fine :)

Does it mean that I'm a SF geek that I read that and thought "Jean-Luc Picard"?

LOL! Hey, did you notice Picard was interviewed by the 9-11 Commission the other day? :)

Hmm, did he recommend a diplomatic solution?

My Spanish is really spotty. Pretty poor, really. But the funny part is that the drunker I got in bars in Cabo, or PV... after awhile I'd start lapsing into French instead of spanish... The looks from the bartenders was priceless...

ROFL! What do you call that, "Sprench"? :)

Hey now. Picard might have been a cheese eating surrender monkey, but he wouldn't tolerate the shenanigans this commission has pulled.

At least he was a wimp with integrity.

I think he did, but Spock raised an eyebrow and said it was illogical, and then McCoy started yelling, "D*mnit, I'm a doctor, not a diplomat! Blast your green-blooded, inhuman diplomacy! I say we set phasers on kill and be done with these terrorists once and for all!" Then the audience started clapping, prompting Commissioner Kean to tell them to stop or else he'd ask for a new UN resolution, which was a sufficiently scary thought to silence even McCoy. Meanwhile Spock snuck up behind Ben-Veniste and gave him a Vulcan nerve pinch, which was pretty cool.
