Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Is Scrabble anything like backgammon, the way you play it? ;pLOL! No, totally different. It's a board of squares where you spell out words with randomly-picked tiles. Different letters have different point values (frequently letters like "a" and "e" are less points, rare ones like "q" and "z" are more), and also different spaces on the board have bonus points (double or triple letter, double or triple word), so it's also a game of positioning. You draw seven tiles to start and afterwords every time you play a word you draw more letters so that you always have seven. If you can play all seven in one word you get a 50-point bonus or "Scrabble". Whoever has the most points when the tiles are used up wins.

For vowels I try to dump the hard-to-use ones like "u" or ones I have multiples of first. If it's a really bad set of tiles it's often better to just turn in your tiles for new letters (don't know if you can do that online, though).

Now I ain't got any vowelspsst... Hair has all the vowels...

Y'all need a theme song...We have a song! Ruthy wrote it!
The Name of the Game
By RMDupree
So many games are played
In so many different ways
Yet one found its way to my heart
With a roll of the dice
Didn't mean to move twice
But you just can't stop once you start
Its name has no real meaning
Until your eyes start gleaming
Once the board is opened to begin
My hands start to shaking
What move will he be making?
Countermove excitement is within
Please don't move the chips so fast
I want the evening to last and last
The tunes you picked are jammin'!
Yet all good things must end
So, dear, until we meet again
I'll be waiting for the next "backgammon".

Now I ain't got any vowels. How about trying it in German? They don't seem to need vowels.
