Funny thing about this conference, is the top-secret nature of the content! All had to sign a confidentiality agreement that we would not share the story passages (the subject is reading comprehension) or any of the questions, not allowed to bring a purse or briefcase into the room, all notes are shredded every day.

Evidently there is a big underground market for fifth grade test answers!

[sigh] Yahknow... it's really evidence of a miracle that any child gets edumacated in this state at all.

I remember learning geometry *in spite* of my teacher. Trig and Calc were just classes in how to play blackjack.

Fifth grade teachers....shudder!

I still haven't gotten over the "Right to Know" presentation when they hired a 5h grade teacher to tell us chemists that certain chemicals were dangerous.....duhhhhh!

All fairness aside... it was fifth grade when I learned of the coolness of Dr. Tolkien. Our fifth grade teacher read us "The Hobbit" in class for a couple of weeks. That's when I picked up the bug for all things Tolkien....

You didn't have Vasereno for Calculus? I liked his test questions: "So, a 30 pound salmon bites the fishing line and runs due east at 15 fps. There is 1000 feet of line on the reel..."

As I recall, I got kicked out of Trig EVERY DAY. Which was cool, because I got to go to both lunch periods that way. What was the teacher's name? Guy, sandy curly hair.

They didn't have calculus when I was there. I had Liukko for Geometry and then Trig and a stupid class called "Math Analysis" that was supposed to be calculus but wasn't. All we learned there was blackjack odds. I'm not kidding. Every day we passed out decks of cards and we played blackjack. there were no quizzes and no tests, and no homework. I do remember a few days we spent analyzing Loretta "boom boom" Hammer's measurements. The measurements were spectacular.

I had Vasareno for Physics. He was cool. He wasn't doing math classes when I was there. But I learned a lot more math from him than I ever did from Liukko.

It took every ounce of will power I had to not buy to ducklings today at the feed store....

With Gidget, it just wouldn't work out! But I like ducks and the ducklings were so cute! And goslings! Now an adult goose would prolly do fine against Gidget, but getting it to adulthood is the challenge.

They were cool... but I learned no math, except for the grandeur of "boom boom's" measurements. I had to wait for college to actually do calculus.

There were a few really good teachers there, though... Vasareno was one of them. There was another really good physics teacher too, though his name escapes me for the moment. The physics group was nice enough to grant me and one of my buds (Hair: remember Chris Baron?) our own room for a special project where we were trying to build a real-life Rail Gun. Back then, though, it was called a "mass driver".

We never did get the Rail Gun to work just right. But we got DARN close. We just didn't have the budget to do it right.

Hi darlin! Myranda and I just got home from my work! I met my dad halfway and she's up here with me for the next 2 days! We are about to have girl talk for hours and hours! :-)

How was your weekend? My weekend was better than my Friday. But, my Monday is superb! :-)

Myran is here now, she is catching up with some old pictures I had found in my massive photo organization project and set aside for her.

Not having attended high school, I wouldn't know, but I still don't think it's cool to be a geek. However, in my book, geeks rock. Plus, they rule the world.
