Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

My birthday has been on Easter before, a couple times... the time I most remember is my seventh, when my present was this playhouse, built by my dad, grandpa and uncle in my grandpa's shop. It was disassembled and set up at our house in secret in the night for my birthday.
It was such a surprise, that when I went out on the porch to look for the easter basket mom said was there, I looked all over our porch and didn't even see it in the yard. She said.... not this porch, that porch!

Here's Ramius and me inside... Yes, my dress matches the drapes.

Good morning... Rose says it's cold. I'm just comfortable.
It's raining a lot, in any case!

Oh! That is too DARLING!!! Did you like your playhouse? :-)
My birthday is too early for Easter but was on Palm Sunday once. I had a special birthday party that year too. All the family came and there was a special dinner. At the time I didn't really realize the significance of Palm Sunday - I don't think I realized it till I accepted Christ anyway - but I do remember that birthday as being very special. Don't remember how old I was then.
You were a such a beautiful little girl! And remain so as a grown lady. I also love that photo of you as a kid on your wedding invitation. I have the invitation sitting on display on a shelf here in my bedroom. Been intending to add it to my group of Hobbit Hole photos in the den but haven't done it yet. I like seeing it here for now. :-)

I'm going with Rose's diagnosis! She was born here. :-)
It hasn't rained here even though we were supposed to have those massive storms. I think all points south got that rain.

I look a little overwhelmed in that pic!
I loved my playhouse.... When we moved, we disassembled and moved it. When I outgrew the little kitchen furniture we moved cots and a lamp in and Sonya and I would sleep out there in summer through high school.

Apparently San Antone got dumped on, we're getting some of their rain as it comes up from the south.

Hey, that works! ;)

So, whatever happened to the playhouse? Is it still around? My friends and I used to like to sleep out in the back yard too. But, we didn't have a shelter. Always seemed like a bit of adventure. And of course, we could get away with more outside!

I turned on the heater too. Yesterday. Needed it.
And I've got on sweats this morning. Slept too late to make it to church but gotta get dressed in a little while to go over to Celia's. Am thinkin' I'm going to have to drag out a sweater even though I wish I could dress for spring!
You can always have my share of cake Bear! But, if it comes with ice cream, you will not get that!

When we moved everything to the beach house, we didn't move it. We had kept it up, had put in a new floor and always fresh paint... it would have been goin' on 20 years old, and was no longer strong enough to move... Years and moisture aren't good for plywood. So we left it there. The new buyers thought their grandkids would like playing in it.

That's ok, I don't like ice cream with cake. Makes for soggy cake and lumpy ice cream. (ick)

The new buyers thought their grandkids would like playing in it.Oh you know they did! When I was looking at the photos I was thinking that it would be really cool if Tom could build one of those for Abby and Emily.
Did I say I called them yesterday to find out the postal situation? Tom has been in Alaska for 2 weeks now. I would like to visit there! He is checking with Perk to see if they are receiving mail and they are going to call me when they get word. Meanwhile, I will send this stuff to Jerry.

The cool thing about it was that the panels all connected inside with wing nuts and bolts, so it was built to move around, till we had painted it together with years of paint.
