Usually it's verbal and mental rather than physical, though. ;-) Ummmm... FWIW - the police academy here teaches trainees to stay out of catfights because 2 wimmin fighting without weapons are more dangerous and unpredictable than 2 men fighting.
We are told as instructors here that if you try to break up fights between male students 2 instructors should work together, one getting in front of one male the other instructor getting in front of the other male. That seems to stop them because they want to attack the other guy not the people in the middle. However, we are told to call 911 for wimmin fighting.

Back in those days... the boss was a lady that I just loved to death. She was awesome. It was all the others in the department that were the problem. One in particular. Dang... she was mean. Just mean. She hated me thoroughly for reasons that I never did and still don't understand.
She was known around the company as "the Ice Queen". She took over the department while our boss went on a leave of absence for about six months, only a month or two after I was hired. She tried unsuccessfully to have me fired a couple of times, and then wrote (as I understand it) a *scalding* review of me when our boss got back later that year.
When the boss got back she brought me in to her office to talk about this review. She asked me if I'd seen it. I said that I'd gotten a copy of it in an envelope, but had never opened it or read it.
Don't you want to read it? she asked?
No... I said... I have already supposed that it is negative, as there is something about me that seems to bother her very much. I have decided, though, not to read it because I'm afraid that my response to it would harm my career more than her opinion ever could.
About a year or so later, the Ice Queen was fired for other reasons. Never did see that review.
