Goldens are nice. My first dog was about that size and had hair like that but was black. She was a mutt but similar to a Flat Coated Retriever. That is my main reason for wanting a house but I don't want to have to go home at lunch everyday to walk a dog :P ah the dilemma. I could use a crate but I think it would be mean to crate the dog and let the cats run free to taunt it.
You're into anime? What do you like?
er.. to many to list hehehe. A very VERY short list would be: Kaze no Tani no Nausicaa, Crest of the Stars, Fruits Basket, and Full Metal Panic. I could list titles all day though.

I bought a house so I could have a dog...but right now only have a small house and a small dog. I'd LIKE a bigger dog, but I don't have much of a yard and I don't know that I have the discipline I'd need to take a dog for a long walk a couple times a day no matter what the temperature or weather, which I would think I'd need to do for SURE with a larger dog unless I had a big yard and could play fetch with them and all that. Fiona gets quite a bit of exercise in the house, but that wouldn't work for a larger dog.

My dog is home all day...when she was a puppy I was working closer to home and able to walk her, but can't now. Probably not the best situation, and I DO have a relatively short commute and work day, but she does OK.

Of course, starting out with a puppy would be different. And I DID crate her when she was little. She actually liked her crate for the most part. She's always happy when I bring it back out to bring a pet to the vet. ;-) So no permanent scarring, I guess...

We spent most of the evenings at Entmoot watching anime, or a group of us did. I've seen Nausicaa, but not the others you mentioned. I've heard of Fruits Basket...one of the other animooters had it with her, but we didn't get around to watching it.
