Yeah, we used to make a drives through the hill country several times during this wildflower 'sploding time. It is just spectacular. Someone (visitor from out of state) once make a crack that it was just the highway department planting those blue bonnets for tourism. I wanted to roll my eyes but didn't. We came around a bend afterwards that the bluebonnets covered as far as you could see, off across the hills in the distance. I bit my tongue.

I bit my tongue.You know how when they're like that you can smell 'em on the breeze? Well, from the back of a motorcycle you can multiply that bluebonnet fragrance by a factor of 10! It's the most incredible thing to ride through the country in spring when they're blooming and smell that!
At the old house I could look out back and many years the bluebonnets would cover the fields over to the next hill. It was a sea of blue blowing in the breeze. Nothing like it! This is what Texas is all about! :-)
