FWIW, about 7 years ago, I started doing the research for an article on how teams fare, in terms of championships, based on ownership. I was going to look at corporate-owned teams vs. those owned by individuals or small groups of individuals.
I had some preconceived notions about that and wanted to see if I was right, but my editor wasn't interested...

I had some preconceived notions about that and wanted to see if I was right, but my editor wasn't interested... I would give the edge to the sole owner, as opposed to the corporation, but there's also some lousy individual owners out there. Mark Cuban, of course, is great. Walter O'Malley and his family may have broken Brooklyn fans' hearts, but they did keep a competitive team for many years, which Fox has not done since buying the team. Peter Angelos is terrible and a Democrat to boot.
