Where was the joy and wonder? Not all services are made equally, I can understand that (I've been to enough denominations in enough churches to figure that out), but from what I've seen there was no joy. There was no happiness. It was a large group of people (whose faith and devotion I am not questioning, BTW) who seemed to just be going through the motions. It honestly made me cringe and want to ask, "If it seems to bore you so much, then why do you bother?"

I obviously will not be able to explain to you in a chat forum the foundation of the Mass the and joy and wonder present in the Eucharist. That takes time, and it is something that, in your case, you seem to have made up you mind based on one or two bad experiences. I sure am glad that I don't judge the efficacy of my Protestant brethern's faith based on a sampling of their services.
