. We have urged Gibson to consider adding to the movie a postscript with him coming on screen at the end to implore his viewers not to let the film turn some toward a passion of hate." For once, please let a work of art be inviolate, free from special interest or financial considerations. These people would have had Renoir put clothes on The Bathers.

So far you have not responded to our request of 11 months for us to meet. Profound inability to take a hint?

He wants to cause trouble and he does not want Jesus Christ Jews to be the center of anything bad!!

Foxman is being dishonest here if he claims to have viewed Gibson's interview on EWTN. If he had, he would have seen and heard Mel Gibson explain who is responsible for Christ's death:
- Gibson:
- "The film collectively blames humanity for the death of Jesus. Now there are no exemptions there, all right? I'm the first on the line for culpability I did it. Christ died for all men, for all times."
- Arroyo:
- "Including the Jewish people?"
- Gibson:
- "Yeah. Theyre part of the human race. ..."
NO ONE escapes blame for the death of our Savior!

Do you mean "inciteful" as "inciting" something, as Foxman charges Mel Gibson is doing? Or do you mean "insightful," as in "perceptive."

The carbon copy at the end to their lawyers was a nice touch, huh?

"We are especially concerned with a scene in which a mob of Jews who are present when Pontius Pilate condemns Jesus to death calls down a blood curse (Matthew 27:25)."This is what always puzzles me.
Is he "concerned" with what this mob of Jews in fact shouted out?
Or is he just "concerned" about anyone who reports what they shouted out?

We are especially concerned with a scene in which a mob of Jews who are present when Pontius Pilate condemns Jesus to death calls down a blood curse (Matthew 27:25). This scene so far remains intact, even though Gibson indicated that he was removing it. So I suppose we should ban the Gospels now, because it is anti-Jewish rhetoric. Frankly I could not think of a better way to engender antisemitism then to argue that the Christian Gospels should be band as antisemitic. This is kinda scary, I mean the ADL will be doing a lot more the accomplish hate then Gibson's movie will if they suggest that we Christians can't have our Gospels any more. I really hope they stop it, before they go to far and make antisemitism popular in THIS country again.

What an arrogant jerk. Mel Gibson has no obligation to kowtow to Foxman, who is nothing but a Leftist with an agenda of which this particular controversy is but a small part.

The Jewish leaders are playing a dangerous game. When people go to see the movie and do not find an antisemitic they will rightly start examining the motives of Foxman and his supporters.
By being so open with their hatred of Christianity, they risk Christians seriously reconsidering their support for Israel. Without American Christian support Israel does not continue to exist.

I am sure FOXMAN Would like his version to reflect: I can see it now:
"A group of Islamic Fundamentalists captured "Jesus" in the Garden and took him to Pontuis Pilate. The Jews were out in the temple praying, while the Muslims and the Romans were in the square shouting for "Jesus" to be crucified.
After "Jesus: death The Jews came to give Jesus a proper Jewish burial and said GEE! Loook what the Romans and Muslims have done, glad we weren't involoved... FOXMAN would proably love that story....

Romans 3:23 "For ALL have sinned and fall short of the GLory of God"
To: trebb
Jesus said on the cross, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." Doesn't that say it all? Jesus himself did not condemn the Jews, and therefore, neither should any other misguided person who doesn't understand the Gospels.
That said, it annoys me when Jewish leaders stand up and accuse Christian film makers of anti-Semitism. What are they afraid of, that seeing this movie will turn Christians into a rampaging mob from Czarist Russia that will start a progrom?

It's funny how the more things change the more they stay the same. Jesus troubles them today just as much as he did 2000 years ago.

I am sure he wants to beleive that there were no Jews involved, and the ones that were in the square were silent..
It was the ROMANS...or who ever else besides the Jews might of been there..
He is trying to distort the GOSPELS a very dangerous thing to do..As this will cause a rift....But maybe that is what he wants...

As I hear it, there is only an empty tomb at the end. Jesus visiting the Apostles is not shown.
I hope I didn't spoil the movie for anyone by giving away "the ending". Actually the message of this film is to give away the ending to everyone. Jesus died for our sins and in His name we are forgiven. Jesus is risen.

We were saddened and pained to find that "The Passion of the Christ" unambiguously portrays Jews as being responsible for the death of Jesus. "Jews" or a certain group of Jewish clerics?
Why is it that Catholics and Protestants are expected to acknowledge that some of their religious clerics may have done less than savory things in past history but some Jewish leaders today take extreme offense in any mention of the fact that the same was true in the history of Judaism?

I watched the interview with Gibson twice. I wonder if Foxman and the Rabbi watched the same interview?
Gibson specifically states that the teachings of catholocism are clear about it NOT being the jews individually, but ALL mankind. Then and now who are responsible.
I did wonder though why Mel never states how Jesus and His desciples are all jewish.

haven't seen any of the anti-Christian hate films like the Last TemptationThat's pretty obvious- Last Temptation wasn't very good but it was neither hateful nor anti-religious.
