Thanks to all of you for the warm welcomes! Thanks also to Wneighbor for the pints! :)
So any of y'all reading any interesting Tolkien-related stuff right now? I'm about to start "Tales Before Tolkien: The Roots of Modern Fantasy" (ed. by Douglas A. Anderson), which is a collection of 19th and early 20th-century stories that predated Tolkien and in some cases influenced him. I'm also working through some of the Norse epics Tolkien drew from. I'm trying to find where he got some of his ideas about elves and dwarves from, following up on some passages in Tom Shippey's study of Tolkien that discuss this. Anyway, that's my current reading in this area. Anybody else reading anything interesting right now?

Good morning everyone, and Welcome to the Hobbit Hole Fedora!
Today is a day I am not even sure what is going to happen.... The bulkhead guys may be coming, but I also am 'sposed to go down and visit with my friend Kay tonight, who is recovering from foot surgery. There will be busy-ness, that is all I know!

Oh Fedora! Those things you are reading are very exciting to me! I'd like to know more!
Unfortunately, right now, I'm buried in textbooks I have to review for work... and Tolkien is not in the stack right now. But, I was in the middle of the Silmarillion for the umpteenth time in preparation for reading the Book of Lost Tales immediately afterward cause I was wanting to outline comparisons. But, with the textbooks, I think that plan fizzled.
