They are fairly smart about watching their footing... If Bay sees something not right he stops and blows and won't go near... Arabs are like that. But the pony seems to have a curiousity about it. Some of the junk we have found, she has 'dug' up.
And this big cable is really safer than smaller wire that would bind around them if they stepped in it and pulled.

I know it is very scary for you with them in that. And I'm glad that you and ecurbh are able to go do this searching at this time. I had a dog get caught in a trap down by a creek near my house one time. Don't know how it happened but it was aweful. The neighbor didn't find her till it was too late. Don't know who set the traps either.

Some of the junk we have found, she has 'dug' up.Arabs, if not made psychotic, are very sensible horses. Ponies, OTOH, are natural-born mischief makers, and sometimes get themselves in trouble.
Even that big cable is dangerous, if a horse gets tangled in it, panics, and breaks a leg. I'm glad you found it, but shudder to thing what else is out there. Get that metal detector. If you find any guns, I want first dibs.
