Wife and I got each other the book for Christmas (each not knowing the other had). Haven't started it yet though.

Well, like I say...the guy from Saddleback that did the "preachin" for our presentation into it (a simulcast from California) was really good. I liked what he said. But it was just his references that kinda made me pause...my Bible ocassionally didn't say anything near what his Bible said, apparently. So when he says something, does it just sound good? Or is it Biblically sound? Not really a question, just things I'm pondering...
They combined the two worships, so the contemporary worship and the traditional (which is still more contemporary than I like) were together. I wore slacks...thought they might have me doing calisthenics in the aisle or something.
The music was very contemporary...sigh. I know that I'm in the minority, but I sure miss the extremely serious and profound atmosphere of worship that I grew up with...my life is full of ruckus...I wish I could experience the singing of orderly and intense hymns and the rumble of "AMENS" across the building by the elders in the church. The quiet awe that I felt after I was saved at age nine.
Now when I go to worship my Lord, I feel like I'm attending a rock concert.
But the old days are gone, apparently, since my church is one of the most "traditional" in the area.
