I kinda like the smell

It's not the worst thing, in an open area. I love the mixed smells of barns too. Closed in a tight space, it can be a bit lethal!

Oh yeah. I get laughed at a little because I keep a fork hanging on the wall outside my mare's stall - as soon as she produces anything, I go in and carry it away before she steps in it and kicks it all over the stall.

She has the routine down pat - even uses one corner now and steps aside as soon as I enter. I think she likes it better clean - and it's easier on the shavings.

Do y'all use shavings or straw in the Pac NW? Sitting in the middle of pulpwood territory like we do, everybody uses shavings because they are actually FREE if you go to the mill to fetch them.
