I want to do some weight training, too. Not sure where to start, though, without equipment. There MUST be things besides push-ups that can be done without purchasing anything!

I know a number of different weightless workout routines, but the best of them involve pushups. You can do different types of pushups to target different muscle groups. If you're trying to avoid pushups or looking to target muscle groups you can't get with just pushups, there's a routine that uses a resistance strap instead of a weight set:

The Weightless Workout

The book is $20 and the strap that comes with it is another $10. If you can't afford that right now, I can send you some directions if you can figure a way to improvise the resistance strap. You can make one out of the tube from a tire or something like that. I've also got a routine that uses just light dumbbells if you can get ahold of a pair of those. What muscle groups are you trying to work on?--or is this more for cardiovascular purposes?

Actually push-ups would be fine! I just don't know that many ways to use 'em.

I've heard of the resistance strap thing...I'm going to bookmark that site for later viewing.

Mostly I just want to get stronger, especially my upper arms and shoulders. I actually get something of a wrist and lower arm workout from playing music, believe it or not! I can feel it if I don't play for a bit and come back to it. But I'm weak otherwise.
