Just invite them when you're willing to clean up after them. That's prolly what it'll come down to.
It isn't that they're intentionally trying to make my life hard. It's just that it doesn't OCCUR to them to do things any other way. And if I constantly point things out time and time again, I feel like a horrible nag...which they already see me as.
Time for a meeting.

You could just leave them there. LOL!!! That's the passive-aggressive way of handling it! ROFLOL!!!!
Two weeks later, dirty dishes have gardens of mold growing on them.
"Rosie! Why don't you clean this mess up??"
"Cause I didn't make it."
LOL....not likely to happen, but kinda funny to imagine.
I just find it astounding that they don't automatically help you! Boy, if they ever get married, they are gonna think you are milk toast compared to what their wives are gonna do to them! I can't see that flying for much longer than the honeymoon period! LOL

Heh. Just stop having them over.

I can see where she's torn, though...they are her family! She loves them! It's a hard spot to be in, when your family is taking advantage of you...you still love 'em and want to be around them, but wish they would appreciate you more!
I'm reminded of that quote from The Once and Future King...
"Perhaps we give the best of our hearts -- uncritically -- to those who hardly think of us in return." ~T.H. White

Heh...my Dad always told us "What? You think you're a guest in this house? Go over there and help your mother!"
To: Overtaxed
Same here.
My mom was lucky enough to have 3 girls, so we were taught young that cleaning the house and helping Mom was no argument.

I'm back. Just got elf-boy off to school. PE went into work vey early this morning since he has to go to Fort Hood today. He had to be at work by 5:30 so they could leave in time to get there by 8:00.
A friend of mine is having a garage sale tomorrow, and we are going to put some things in for sale. UGH. I really have stuffitis. What I should be doing right now is going through all my children's books to see what I really want to keep and what can go into the sale. You know, I may have enough books to consider it a full children's library, LOL. The garage is full of books, the dining room is full of books, and the closet in my office is nothing but books. That does not count all the books *I* read, or the books in Elf-boy's room.
I am half afraid to get rid of these books, because I know that Elf-boy will be needing some different books to read soon.

Thinking here, which can be a dangerous thing for me. I did talk to PE about selling our kitchen table, and putting the dining room table in the kitchen. Hmm, we could make the dining room into a library/play area. Maybe, we could even get the books out of the garage! Bookshelves. It all boils down to bookshelves.

I know what you mean! Went through and got rid of all the "grocery store" books...silly books by unknown authors about easter ducks or something, you know?
But I kept a LOT of the children's books, and almost all my teenager books...because they are GREAT books.

Your kitchen table wouldn't happen to be a chrome kitchen table? With a blue top? With silver glitter in the top? Blue plastic covered chrome chairs?
I'm dying for one of them.
