You gots some really cool stuff there PE! Woulda been nice to have built some of that with Myranda. Getting her ticket was one of those things in her early adolescence that made her feel special - like she really could accomplish somethin' in her life. Woulda been nice to build something related.

Jr. however wuz another story tonite. We had to have a come to Jesus meetin'. Told him if'n he didn't come to Jesus, we wuz sendin' him there...
I know it's been rough on him, but he is not allowed to be rude to his mother or his grandmother. I told him he could consider it a threat.

Jen, girlfriend, have you ever even seen Windows 3.1? What languages do you code? I actually have seen Windows 3.1! When I was six, that was the OS on our only computer. I thought Windows 95 was great when it came along.
I mostly program in C++, Javascript (well... sometimes it's programming) and VBScript. Also a little Java. But I know the differences between ANSI C and C++!

How long do you have to be up there? A week or so? Two and a half days. Go up the Wednesday, come back Friday night. It's the driving myself up there I don't want to do.

A straight key is not something .... I'm sure the paddles are a lot easier. All of my morse life however, was all about doing flashing light between ships. We all learned by doing morse by tone on headsets. As it would happen, they say that if you learn by tone you can do light faster, but if you learn on light you can't do tone. So we learned on tone.
But light is just by practical limitation far slower than tone. And we coastie quartermasters that learned light never got nearly so good at it as our navy signalman buds. The CG doesn't have a signalman rate like the navy. It was us QM's that had to fill in when light was needed. We also had to learn semaphore and flags. It is, however, a pretty cool way to communicate. As it turns out, the SINGLE most secure way to pass messages is via semaphore. Second most secure is flashing light. Third is by encrypted radio, and down from there.

That does inhibit a bit. Hmmm

I'm a geek. I've been one since I was little. I've learned to deal with it. I walk the walk, I talk the talk, I spend my lunch hour drooling over cool new tech.
Heck, I figure it should be a big asset when it comes to marryin' time, since I want a geek myself...

Man, I still remember when I first installed Windows 3.1... I thought it was such an improvement over 3.0! I never did get comfortable with Win95... I think I went from 3.1 on my home machine directly to Win98, after a hardware upgrade.

What's a "come to Jesus" meeting, and why did Jr need to go? Other than because you told him to, of course.

Yes it does! But were you around earlier when she showed up in the hole for a bit? She's visited with us now twice this week! Makes her mommy's day! :-)
