Mm, go ahead and send whenever/whatever you like... is it finished, is that what you mean by editing? Or just that you're editing what you've written?

Last October, mostly for fun, I cranked out 20 chapters with the goal of having a completed story by Halloween. The result was a story that was complete but unedited and only 100 pages long. In order to get it into publishable shape I need to add at least 150 pages, preferably more, as well as work out some of the bugs I left unedited in my haste to finish it.

Hadn't heard of it until I read your post and looked it up just now :) I guess it was kind of like that. I figured if I forced myself to keep on a tight schedule like that it would help me break through my writer's block. It did, but now I've got a big editing chore ahead. . .

Note to self: Fedora is on NaNo ping list next year, whether or no he likes the idea... ;p

It's a good thing for me to do because I just sit and write. I don't worry about editing, or getting it right, I just finish something. Usually I get about 3/4 of the way done and I give up....

It does sound like a good thing to do. How come you give up 3/4 of the way done?

Because I have thought the story through already, and I get bored with writing it.

The one I'm currently writing will, I hope, be different, because this story matters to me. I want to get it out, and get it right, rather than just telling it for myself.

Makes sense. Yeah, I find that does make a big difference whether you're writing for yourself or whether you know someone else is going to read it.

Great work! I'm surprised you weren't attacked by Al Frankenweenie.

Tornados are something we get in PA, now and then... like once in six years. Nasty.

Same way here in South Florida. We never get anything higher than a F2 here though.

Prayers UP!

With ya on that! We're probably getting some strong winds around midnight, but hopefully they'll stay shy of tornadoes.

I have a question for the Tolkien scholars...

Was Aragorn ever called "Estel" by anyone? For some reason I have that in my head, but don't know where it came from, lol. Also, does "estel" mean "hope?"

I was looking up Elrond and Aragorn's "I give hope to men...." "....I keep none for myself" in the appendices because I heard that it was what Aragorn's mother told him shortly before she died. Or at least, it was close. She said "Onen i-Estel Edain, ú-chebin estel anim," which is then translated "I gave Hope to the Dúnedain, I have kept no hope for myself."

I thought it was a nice use of that quote, and am very curious about the word "Estel," for it is what Arwen cries at Aragorn's death.

Yup! He was Estel as a kid in Rivendell when his real name and heritage was hidden.
