You sound like my daughter!
She sees a hot springs resort in her future. ROFL!
I'll be sure to let you know when the geysers start.
I thought we were out of the Lassen magma area, but don't know for sure.
If this is just a part of the inland heating it could sure turn out to be good. I'd be the closest hot springs to Sacramento, I think.
Anyway, I've got a couple of strange SUVs heading up my road, so my answer may be near. Gotta go...

I've got mixed emotions. On one hand it's great to see you're back. On the other hand, I was enjoying watching the sure development of a FReeper campfire legend to rival the Roswell, New Mexico, UFO crash site tale.

Thanks for the ping! Glad to hear LittleJoe is O.K. and hope he can put that 80 degree thermal source to work.

Good News: Looks like you don't have to find the elusive California virgin. Glad your back!!!!!!

Pick up a Mean's Mechanical Cost Data estimating guide or look for a used one, maybe 4 years old. In the back of the book are about 20 different solar/thermal designs and cost datum that are fairly well detailed. It'll give you a generic system design options without wasting too much money on it, while also giving you market prices for the work you may want to perform.

Most power consumption in home use is for heating either space or water. You have the water problem (mostly) solved (after some clever plumbing.) You can run the hot water to your water heater (maybe it needs some filering) and save there. You could also look at using hot water radiators (rather than steam) for space heating; they work by convection; it's an old technology.
The you can use the electricity just for lights, tv, and computers. (And to run the pumps, maybe.) This is a big win economically. You may be able to replace 80%-90% of heating with your well.
I don't know if your well water needs filtering before use for a shower. It takes a rather large plant (I think) to usefully generate electricity from just a water heat difference. The Jemez Moutain projects did so some of this; they used the hot rocks (really deep) to heat water to steam; it was smelly.

"The theory is that the San Andreas fault is becoming inactive and a new fault is forming inland. I need to research this, but it looks like there will be more earthquakes and volcanic activity in the future in this area."
If the theory is that MORE earthquakes and volcanic activity will be happening in the areas you live in (?), why would this be good news?
It's been a long day for me ... maybe I'm missing something.
In any event, I'm glad you're okay and see a benefit in this. Take care.

Bush was in Roswell last week or so. They said he went to a fund raising. [tinfoil=on] Perhaps he really visited the secret underground facility where the saucers are kept. [tinfoil=off]
