The corporate weenies have decided that everyone needs to have a "clean desk" at the end of every day and are conducting "inspections" to be sure every desk is "clean". If it isn't, they write you up. After 3 write-ups, you're fired. By "clean desk", they mean nothing on the desk - no papers, stacks of files, phone numbers, etc.
Man, I miss my old job!
Good thing I'm very organized and pretty tidy normally, so it hasn't been too difficult to get things straightened up. All I have left to do is set up a filing system, and I just got my file cabinet yesterday - so they can't give me any grief over not having that done yet. :-)
That's all you need to know, right there. This is madness.
