A company I used to work for had a mandatory "desk organization policy". Stalinism in the workforce if I ever did see it.

Wasn't a techie kinda company, though, was it?

Maybe it's just coincidence, but seems like MOST IT related people can't keep a desk neat to save their lives...I'm better than some, but I still have a tendency to accumulate papers and post-its and such.

No, these people went so far as to have a little diagram drawn up, which was supposed to be the benchmark for what all the desks should look like.

I actually was written up for "non-compliance" of this policy.

This was also the same company that tried to establish a "bathroom-break" schedule, to maximize employee effectiveness. I only lasted 4 months there before I got so fed up that I quit.
