Thanks all for the prayers. What a team of warriors we have here. I would trust my back to any of you.

I was a little confused last night about the details. Two of her sisters have died from this, but that was 15 yrs ago, about. She had some fibrous lumps removed a year ago, all benign. One of the spots came back. the doctor called it microscopic and calcified. They did the biopsy on Tues. and called her last night that it was malignant. And that there are more spots that are calcified and pre-cancerous. He listed her choices as 1 - remove the single breast in the radical mastectomy and do reconstructive surgery, then radiation treatment (not chemo, as I had originally thought). Remove both breasts and do reconstruction, then radiation. Remove only the area of the malignancy, and the other calcified tissues, then radiation. She said there was one more but she didn't remember it. She goes back today or Monday to discuss these choices. She calls the doctor at noon to see if he is out of surgery and available then. I don't know where I got the Saturday thing from.

My mom's asked me to find out anything I can on all of this on the internet. Anything you guys can enlighten, or direct to, would be appreciated.

I'm not too terribly worried. She's a mean fiesty redheaded woman. Tough - with a capitol T. And, she'll be thrilled to know about all who are praying for her, I know.

Thanks

Your family sounds a little like mine.... None of us should be too attached to our breasts!

I hope whichever path she chooses, it goes well. I think if it was me, I would opt for takin' them both out and hoping for a peaceful future without having to worry about ~them~ again.

Continued thoughts and prayers for you and your mom!

A similar thing happened to a very good friend of mine. She ended up having both breasts removed, and it was a long treatment time, but she's now completely healthy and living well!

Thanks for checking in with us...we hope and pray that everything will end up going well.
