Matthew is a very unusual child...he began first grade when he was four. He had already been reading for over a year.
Joshua, on the other hand, is my blissfully average child! LOL He will start kindergarten next year shortly before he turns 6.
So this is my fourth year to homeschool.
Today was a great homeschool day. Matthew has taken responsibility for his science coursework. I had very little interaction with him since it mostly consists of reading and watching a video. I literally only checked his grades three times to make sure he was progressing. He took a major test today (a tenth of his grade...he takes 10 of these tests) and it covered the coursework he just recently took control of...
He missed one. He made a 98.
His curriculum said that whales are the largest mammals and he put that whales were the largest animals was false. He just wasn't thinking.
Now this is good, because he is taking control of what he can, freeing me up to teach him the things he can't take control totally of yet...like his math, and some of his language arts.
He opted to do his science curriculum in bed in the evening...I got him a lap desk for Christmas just for this reason.
