I've been saved from a speeding ticket by a radar detector once. It went off several minutes before I saw the Trooper.

I still got a ticket. Guy pulled me over specifically to check my window tint. Unbeknownest to me, it was too dark.

I think my daughter just got a ticket for that.
What's legal in FL for tinting, where her car is licensed, is not legal in NY state, where she goes to college, and where totalitarianism is more embedded.

No way for her to have known, either, at least not easily.

A friend of mine got a radar detector for Christmas that also detects laser. Apparently it also alerts him to traffic jams ahead, so he can take an alternate route.

I suppose it has GPS in it too, as well as some kind of radio transceiver.
