The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
ecurbh

Posted on 12/11/2003 2:07:57 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Forget what I said about housekeeping. Only a few of us fight for that!

He dropped into the Dimensional Doors and said that "Here's a thread that should be pulled!"
*snort*
As if anything inside the Dimensional Doors could be taken seriously.

Just now he did that?

Maybe he is one of those folks who doesn't know how to find chat and is lost. Is stuck here and so alone.

No.
He did that about a month or so back.
Needless to say, we were not amused.

Hmm..
"And our intrepid adventurer has accidentally found himself inside the MIND WARPING wasteland that is the Dimensional Doors thread. Just HOW LONG can he maintain sanity outside of human contact? Watch next episode and see!"

Great, now I have a commercial for a non-existent 50's serial show in my head..

We are "for" good friends, good living, good conversation, good movies, better books, and the United States of America. We are for our troops, our president and good lembas. We are for better music, better chickens and better housekeeping.

I think that about sums it up! Though...we may be "for" good lembas, but we sure can't agree on what it is!

It is NOT thin cornbread...

Thinking it is like a flat cornbread...

I took out the part about the housekeeping though... I can't support it.

Where housekeeping is concerned, I think I've settled for a happy mediocrity.

It isn't a total wreck, but it isn't completely neat, either. But my dishes are done, my floor is swept, and there isn't all THAT much pet hair on the furniture...

Good plan!

I think Sonya and Tim are coming over tonight to watch "the hobbit movie" as she calls it.

I will prolly clean up a bit for that.

Isn't that spelled, "HORSEKEEPING"?

~That~ I could support!

Right now my horses would feel 'better-kept' in a dryer clime.... It just poured last night. I am so thankful to have that dry clean barn to put them in! They are out in the back forty now, and it isn't too bad. But the paddock is a lake.

I just got back from the post office, and mailed out the radios. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I also tried to file a claim on the missing knife shipment. The clerk was pleasant and helpful, but I got hit with a whole bunch of "didn't-you-knows".

Didn't you know that you must wait a minimum of 75 days before filing an insurance claim against something sent to an APO?

Didn't you know that there's a new postal high-security alert, and everything is being inspected?

Didn't you know that the post office is handling the most APO/FPO mail since World War 2?

I sheepishly admitted my ignorance, took an insurance claims form, and slunk away. Looking at a calendar, it seems the knives have to wait until about the third week in February before I can file a claim (looking at the claims form, there's a lot of hoops that have to be jumped through). The 75-day clock for the radios starts today.

Sorry if I made things sound like a downer. There's still some slim hope for the knives, and I'll have enough on hand to ship another batch at the end of February. And it's heartening to hear that Americans are mailing stuff to their troops. Now if only the post office and its military/contractor counterparts could get its act together...

I hope there is good resolution of the knives shipment... Maybe they'll be found. Even if replacing the money won't replace the heart that went into them.
