Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

If the members of the Hobbit Hole ping list are interested, there is a
moviefone.com poll to FReep here:
VOTE: Moviefone's "Best of 2003" Top 10 List
My vote for top film of 2003: LOTR: The Return of the King! :-)
The guy that runs moviefone.com just made an appearance on WTIC AM radio (Hartford, CT) and was encouraging people to vote in this contest. He said they would hold a ceremony and give an award for best movie and top 10 movies of 2003. Sorry, I didn't get any details on when and where that ceremony will take place.

I've only seen it once or twice myself, on broadcast television. IIRC, it was made for commercial TV.

It was.
But it hasn't been seen since.
Actually heard Gollum biting off Frodo's finger as the reason, that it was "too violent".
Which made me wonder, why have they shown other shows much more violent than that?

Good Morning...
Hope everyone is doing well this morning.

it was only SLIGHTLY better than Dolf Lundgren as The Punisher, and David Hasslehoff as Nick Fury. But it was lots better than Reb Brown as Captain America! ;) Honestly, for a budget of $2 million it was about as good as could be expected, I think... their heart was in the right place, they just couldn't follow through with that small a budget.
they've done a pretty decent job with the two X-Men movies
The two X-Men movies are my favorite Marvel movies so far, especially the second one. And it's funny to me, since I'm usually a "purist", that they changed so much from the comics and yet I don't mind. I can't quite put my finger on it... just somehow the spirit of the movies feels right to me.

Their "thinking" probably went something like: "It's a cartoon, therefore it's for kids. For kids, it's too violent. Don't show it!"
That was about the same time the networks really started coming down on "violent" Saturday morning cartoons, as well.

yeah it is rainy here too. I wish it was Saturday! I have been fighting a head cold all week. I didn't drag into work this morn. 'til 9:30.....
To: PurpleQ
Rose works Sunday through Thursday, and has Friday and Saturday off. She likes it, except for missing football on Sunday!
Colds are no fun... do you use Cold-Eeze? I swear by the stuff... if I start using it early enough, the cold never even develops to the point that it becomes a bother.

I thought they were good ones too. If I ever have a wedding I might do that, the whole LOTR theme. Even though I have made fun of people who do that kind of theme wedding in the past. Ah but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Yea that bites, missing Sunday football. Will she be off for the Super Bowl?
And no I haven't tried Cold-Eeze. I will go get some on my lunch hour!!!! I have been tring everything and nothing is working. My ears are so full. I feel like a goof. My equalibrium is all off.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Yeah, like Road Runner and Coyote, Ant and the Aardvark, and other cartoons since superceded by things worse than what once was.

No, she'll have to work Super Bowl Sunday, but her day ends at 5 pm, and the game won't actually start until after that, so she won't miss any of the game.
A word of caution about Cold Eeze... it doesn't work on your symptoms. What it does is inhibit the cold virus itself, so that your body can get rid of it quicker. If you start using it at the first symptom, then usually it can help limit the severity of the cold (because your body is better able to fight off the virus).

So have I waited too long to start it? Or should I go ahead and get some and start taking it?
To: Professional Engineer
Ya' sure it's shouldn't have said FRODO? That's the typical marking for "prototype". It was the first of 103 (so far), and I figured it deserved the distinction.

It won't hurt to use it, and if the virus is still active it will help your body get rid of it. And, it will be good to have some on hand for the next time you start getting a cold!
