The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
ecurbh

Posted on 12/11/2003 2:07:57 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

You could have applied those shakes to good use if you'd been throttling her at the time!! LOL!!

I'm just glad that Matthew didn't "get it". That kind of crap scars a kid.

LOL And I guess I articulated my angst pretty well if I got you sharing it with me!

We're going to have to make a decision this weekend. Stay with this group and keep quiet, switch to another den, or quit. I've put it in Steve's hands...they are the proper ones. He has another son's meeting this weekend...where the dads meet with their sons.

Last time it was an absolute country club atmosphere.

Well, that was my second choice. I was gonna say Phillip Morris. Or maybe for a *don't like* letter choose Planned Parenthood. That'd get her knickers in a twist.

Here's a page you can check:

Thanks...I did take a look, but looks like those are for the Burlington area.

I'm just coming up against one of the downsides of living in a very rural area...I still wouldn't give it up, but there certainly are drawbacks. Lack of affordable commercial / public transportation is one of 'em. Greyhound (well...Vermont Transit, which is a subsidiary) comes up this way, but they have limited service. If we got a taxi to the bus station in Manchester (they don't pick up at the airport - only drop off), we could probably get as far as White River junction, which is just over an hour away. THEN we could probably ask for a ride. That may be our best bet.

All this is made much easier now that I know we're getting in at nine. At eleven...we wouldn't have had any options other than waiting for the next day.

Eureka. I've salvaged two 2.0003Lb coffee cans. We can make a set of "puddle jumpers" for Elf-boy.

Around here we call places that size a "county".

One reason I get amused by Dean... Governor of Vermont? So... that's like as many people as... Redmond?

The CEO of Chuck E Cheese probably has more people he's responsible for.

How long are the manufacturers' warranties?

I think Dell's standard is three years. And it's worth it - usually they'll ship you the part overnight, no questions asked. I likee.

Now I'M ticked, for ya!

I think I would ask her right out what she meant by that. Not in front of people, but in a private conversation.

On the other hand, maybe it's best to leave it alone. But...grrrr!
