From what I understand, the venue in which tickets will be available for this movie is through the 1-800 number. Two of the phone line workers, Amber and Crystal, told me that tickets would not be made available at the box offices of theaters or through other avenues such as Ticketmaster etc. You may want to check on this before you decide to wait.

I was also told that this movie was going to be released in larger cities first and then eventually trickle down into the smaller towns' theaters.

I'll be seeing it in a big city. All the big theaters and most of the indie theaters there have ways to purchase seats in advance via website or phone. A couple of indie theaters just open their box office early and you can buy tickets to later movies that day. Worst case scenario is I'd have to go down to the box office noonish to buy a ticket in person. But whether by website, phone, or boxoffice, I'd know which viewing on which day I had a seat for. That seems preferable to me to owning a generic coupon tradeable for a theater ticket.

If I bought one of these generic coupons, I could not exchange it for a ticket via internet or phone. I would have to go down to the boxoffice early to trade it for a ticket for a specific seat at a specific showing.

For me, there is no advantage to owning such a generic coupon.
