Wow! There are nearly 100 posts on my ping list between your last post and tonight, most having to do with H. Jeanne and the unseen consequences of an orange tan. I get so involved with this stuff that I forget to reflect on other planes and the few remains of civility.
Presented some photographs tonight to a small group of critics, some more perceptive than others. But overall, pretty happy with the outcome. The chief among them, well established and notorious, presented me with a gift of very fine matte photographic paper, which I took as encouragement.
I think he's disappointed that I won't do this as a preoccupation, but I guess my mortgage and retirement come first. I suppose I'm comforted that I'll have time to pursue this hobby to a higher level if alcohol and tobacco don't kill me first.
Neal Boortz was funny this morning. He claims to have a book called "Profiles" which exclusively consists of shots of a single female breast. If you can believe Boortz, he took this book to parties, dinners, bars, and wherever else he might have appeared and, approaching random women, asked then to pick out the breast that looked like theirs and sign an autograph. Apparently, only 3 women in 100 refused. The rest wrote things like "In your dreams" and "Don't you wish". Wish I'd known about that in college! LOL!
I actually worked with a model last week, though very publicly and for just a few moments. But, I finally get it. Lighting, lens, then pose and pose and pose... My fault if the picture fails. That's a nice lesson in humility. I no longer blame scudding clouds for the doubt in my sunsets.
Best,
Brian
