Poets serve the people well
when doubling their entendre
disguising a good, "Go to Hell"
for the democratic genre
Wryly noting ironies
a poet's work is never done
jabbing at cruel tyrannies
in words scarce known by some
So if you seek to prove what's true
or need a bon mot, quick riposte,
a poet's muse is their for you
With free advice for twice the cost!

you guys are all too funny! should be illegal to laugh today.
writing's a good simile
for tax forms and insanity
we twist and turn and lose our forms
but keep it going night and morn.
Of tax forms I have had enough
and where the metaphor fails
I wish I could just fill them in
with stuff that I made up.
My brain is taxed and overtaxed
and thoughts I should be lending
to adding up and taking down
I'm using for my own spending.

The history of every civilization is written in the flutter accumulation of paper disregarded and resting in its gutters.
