I heard a story from a young man recently, about when he just started his first carpentry job. The first weekend on the job, he volunteered to work on a Habitat for Humanity house during a big summer festival time.
He was cutting plywood on a table saw. The plywood was really warped and if you know how these tools work, the warp prevented the blade from cutting the wood. Being astute and a future Darwin Award winner, he pushed down on the plywood so the blade would cut again and proceeded to cut all four fingers off.
there was a crowd of about one hundred people watching. They medivaced the guy to the nearest hospital, sewed three of his fingers back on, but couldn't find the fourth because of the crowd. Oh yeah, the plywood had this nice red stain on it.
