Haven't heard that one before.
Hmm..
Gotta try it out.
I've usually run into the cats that are curious about everyone and will make you 'their' lap sitting spot.

Mimi, the bobcat mix I had, pretty much chose me as 'her' person.
She was just this hissing little ball of fluff that we snatched from outside, her father would have killed her probably, and I ended up taking care of her on and off.
Well, being that I was 8 or so at the time, and she was just a kitten, she 'took' to me.
She lived to be 14 or so, but she did love other people.
If your lap was free, you became a kitty seat.

(Lead me not into temptation, I can find it well enough on my own.)

My first cat was one that I got from a litter of my neighbors's cat. She was a Russian Blue in temperment and looks, although no pedigree.
She lived eighteen years and is buried in my yard with a nice headstone, really.
