The winters can be pretty tough...the thing that gets to everyone is they are so darn long! Pretty serious winter can start in mid-October and last until mid-March, although my wife swears it's from mid-Sept. to mid-May. LOL!

I have found that if I'm busy, like really busy, it doesn't bother as much. So the ranch should make winters fly when we get there.

"although my wife swears it's from mid-Sept. to mid-May"

Well, that is about right for Colorado, and I am severely afflicted with SAD (Seaonal Affective Disorder) in more northern latitudes, so winters are a true misery for me much furthur north than where I am right now. I used to start dropping into a funk in mid-September and wouldn't start coming out of it till late April or early May, and even then there was likely to still be at least one more snow, even though the light issue was better. Sometimes in the winter it would get so bad I could barely function. Even in Kentucky I have symptoms. Here, I do real well...no detectable physical or psychological change at all with the seasons, so in that respect, I am quite content. Needless to say, winters were a source of dread for me when I still lived out there.

I spent a month in northern Idaho several years ago during March and April, and it was much nicer there than it was that same year in Colorado during that time, but I don't if that's typical.
