I don't know if it would be armed war lords, but militias are ready to take control of chaos, because they are prepared.

I believe in everyone keeping as much canned goods and ammo as the foundation of their house will support, and as many guns as will fit indoors, but I'll be damned if I can see any difference between some 'Militia Colonel' with more tattooes than teeth and an 'Armed Warlord'.
Both are gonna do exactly what they like and everyone else be damned, if they get the chance.

In some states, such as Missouri, some militias are state sanctioned. They are called to help sometime along side law and military in a crisis situation, such as floods.

I think your caricature of the militia member is absurd.
